The birth of the ATO brand. Centro Láctico Balcells (CEBALSA) is the company, founded by the Balcells family, which registers the ATO brand. Production begins at the bottling plant in the calle Motors in the Zona Franca neighbourhood of Barcelona.

ATO continues to lead the dairy sector in Catalonia and continues to expand outside the region.
Production begins of milk in brik cartons.
CEBALSA ATO continues to grow, achieving sales figures of 9.6 billion pesetas. ATO products reach over a million Catalan homes with a fleet of 100 delivery lorries. Milk is collected from 3,700 farmers and 480 people work in the factory.
THE ATO FOREST is planted in Ger (La Cerdanya). Over 60,000 consumers take part and 1 tree is planted on behalf of each of them.
The old CEBALSA-ATO plant in the calle Motors in Barcelona is closed and production is moved to the factory in Vidreres (Girona), a plant built in the middle of the 1950s, with an ambitious plan to expand and modernise.
